Hi, my name is Anne Simmonds and I’m a figurative artist who grew up in London but is now based on the Essex/Suffolk border.

I work mainly in oils and acrylic, occasionally in watercolour or pastel, from a mixture of sketches, photos and imagination. I aim to paint expressively and to convey a feeling of calm and wellbeing. I am inspired by people, animals and the natural world, but also enjoy the peace and quiet of a still life. I frequently use my family, friends and dogs as models and often introduce a narrative element, which I hope might raise a smile.

My work has appeared at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Watercolour Society, the Society of Women Artists and the Royal Society of British Artists at the Bankside and Mall Galleries in London.

I also undertake private commisssions.
